Nawah Energy Company Award

December 2017, Nawah Energy Company, subsidiary of ENEC in the UAE, awarded WSC a major multiyear contract to provide engineering services for the upgrade of the Barakah Full Scope Nuclear Power Plant Simulator.

As part of this major project, WSC will upgrade the simulator with the most current available data as Unit 1 nears commissioning. Major tasks to be performed are: All process models reviewed and updated based on newest available data, Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for Westinghouse safety and non-safety systems, and Toshiba Turbine Control I&C and HMI will be updated. The Main Balance of Plant (BOP) Loop and Safety System models will be remodeled using higher fidelity models using the 3KEYRELAP and 3KEYMASTER FlowBase hydraulic modeling technology. Engineering-grade Severe Accident Modeling using MELCOR will be developed and integrated with the updated simulator. All baseline data, as-built data and design documents will be incorporated in the 3KEYSAFE Configuration Management System (CMS).

A test platform has been set up in the WSC main office in Frederick, MD to allow Nawah's test operation staff to verify and accept the upgraded simulator.
